Preparing a content plan
How to Create a Comprehensive Content Plan in Minutes:
- Select a domain that ranks well on Google (in any language).
- Export the keywords, using tools like Ahrefs.
- Use your preferred crawler to extract article titles and categories for the given URL.
- Utilize a pivot table to map keywords to titles.
Choosing a Domain
For this example, I chose the domain dailypaws.com. This site attracts significant traffic for the keywords we aim to target.
Keyword Export
The chosen site has experienced a decline recently, so I’ll export keywords from a period when its visibility was at its peak.
Export keywords from Ahrefs, and refine them by filtering, such as by volume.

Scraping
From column J (Current URL), extract unique URLs for scraping. You can achieve this using =unique(Sheet1!J2:J).
In addition to titles, scrape the categories assigned to articles. This will preliminarily organize the content plan into thematic clusters. For dailypaws.com, categories are located here:
Copy their CSS path, in this case, “.mntl-universal-breadcrumbs.”
Enter the CSS path in Screaming Frog under Configuration > Custom > Extraction. This will let you scrape category names.
Go to Mode > List and paste the article URLs you want to scrape.

Mapping
Next, map the article URLs to their titles and categories. Export the crawl results to CSV and paste them into a separate sheet within the same file as the Ahrefs keyword export.
Here’s how my sheet looks:
Clean up the Ahrefs export sheet by removing unnecessary columns and adding Title and Category columns. Use VLOOKUP to map titles and categories.
Pivot Table
Finally, create a pivot table that includes Titles, Keywords, and their Volume.
And there you have it! This approach delivers a comprehensive content plan complete with keyword research tailored to each topic. By filtering the pivot table with scraped categories, you can craft content around thematic clusters.
